Hi! I’m Thomas Ybarra, a video game enthusiast and designer. I’ve played all different types of game genres, from visual novels to FPS’s. It’s hard for me to pick out a specific favorite genre since I have so many. As a player and a designer, I’ve always tried to expose myself to as many different genres as possible to keep myself open to new experiences and playstyles.
In addition to my video game interests, I’ve been very invested in immersive design and technologies. Many of my skills I’ve developed for game design have had crossover into immersive design and vice versa! Doing immersive design and experimenting with new technologies brings new challenges and problems to solve, but I’m always up for the challenge!
I’ve had many experiences that have made me well traveled and taught me how to think on my own and be self-reliant. I’ve traveled all over the US and even across the sea, learning about different cultures and people along the way. Through my time at scouts and in school, I learned a lot about being on teams and leading them. I’m good at understanding and incorporating different perspectives and ideas into projects. I believe working on a team with different ideologies and experiences is the best way to make a project the best it can be.
I’ve always been inspired by the games I’ve played and how they reached out to my feelings and the feelings of others. I want to make games not just for the sake of making games but also for making games that many will enjoy and remember for years to come.
